What a perfect session! Steve, Impi and I started the day with tea and toast on the incomplete) deck waiting for the wind to pick up. I was certain it was going to fill in nicely again, but when it started to get to around 16 knots Impi was itching to get out so we walked across to the beach with our bigger kit (6.5-7m sails) and smaller kit (5.7s) just in case. I was willing to waitand go over with just a 5.7m and 5m but as the others were going straight away I didn't want to be underpowered.

As soon as I got to the beach the wind filled in and it was clear the 6.7m wasn't going to be needed so I went out on my 5.7m and Niash Hybrid Freewave. Impi and Steve rigged their 5.7s too.

We were all perfectly powered and flying across the water. After a while I started getting a little too well powered, but the others were staying on their 5.7s so I flattened my sail off a little and got back out there. Not long after that the wind picked up even more and Impi and I changed to 5m sails and Steve flattened his sail off a bit.

Back on the water and to start with there was only just enough for the smaller sail, but after a couple of runs the 5m was just perfect and what had already been a good session juts got better and better.

The water was fairly flat so flat out slalom blasting was the order of the day with some nice runs with all three of us together at maximum speed. That board feels lovely when well powered with a 5m.

Andrew (ajdesq), Dave and Sarah also came out for a while, but were a little further downwind so we didn't really see much of them.

There wasn't much in the wave of jumping or wave riding going on, but we did get some nice jumps off the swell out the back and I did manage one big jump towards the end (although i did bail out of it too as it was a little higher than expected.)

One of those days we'll remember for a while.
